A war between China and Australia would be apocalyptic. The devastation and death resulting from such a war are beyond words to describe. Yet, that is what the Australian Strategic Policy Insitute promotes as inevitable.
This idea - that war is unavoidable - has been used by war mongers through the centuries. American President John F. Kennedy gave a famous speech in 1963, shortly before he was assassinated, in which he exhorted:
Let us examine our attitude toward peace itself. Too many of us think it is impossible. Too many think it unreal. But that is a dangerous, defeatist belief. It leads to the conclusion that war is inevitable--that mankind is doomed--that we are gripped by forces we cannot control.
We need not accept that view. Our problems are manmade--therefore, they can be solved by man. And man can be as big as he wants. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings. Man's reason and spirit have often solved the seemingly unsolvable--and we believe they can do it again.
ASPI promotes war with China on behalf of its foreign militaristic masters. The sources of their funding are clear and public. Their military sponsors have received tens of billions of dollars in weapons contracts over the last twenty years.
It is time to put a stop to this blatant war-mongering. Let us shine the search light on this dark and wicked institution.
The Australian Senate must investigate ASPI for manipulation of our government policy on behalf of foreign military interests.
Please sign the petition now. This is a matter of the greatest urgency.

TO THE HONOURABLE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE SENATE IN PARLIAMENT ASSEMBLED:
This petition of the undersigned shows:
The conflict ASPI is promoting exposes Australia and its citizens to heightened military risks that are entirely avoidable, which is gross irresponsibility bordering on treasonous.
